Auditing the course

Students from the Université de Montréal or Mila are welcome to audit this course as long as there is available classroom space.

However, for those students enrolled at the Université de Montréal, I kindly encourage you to still formally register as an auditor.

• What does it mean to register as an auditor? It is essentially to formally register for the course, except that you will not be evaluated (the grade is SE = sans évaluation) and you will not get credits.
• Why does this matter? First, technically this is actually a requirement by the university. Other than this, to the instructors, registering makes a difference because it is the only way the university will know that this course is actually attended by more people than the bunch of students who do register and get the credits. This is important to ensure that the course is recognised as relevant by the university, and for the professors it can make a difference iin the evaluation of our teaching service. To students, a benefit is that it gives you access to the StudiUM page of the course and it is a way to formally register this interest and participation, which eventually you could formally list or mention in your CV or elsewhere.
• How can you register? You can register as usual through the course registration form and mention “Auditeur libre” in the comments.

I also recommend you to contact the TGDE of your department to confirm all this information and ask any questionsyou may have.

Auditors may also participate in some of the course work, depending on the total number of registered students, but this requires additional work and organisational efforts on the instructors side, and commitment on the auditors side. For this reasons, auditors are kindly requested to submit their contact information and intentions for the course via this form.
